ABOUT
Tara Cunningham is a guitarist, composer, collaborator and improviser from Bath, UK. After being awarded a place on the junior course at the Royal Academy of Music, she went on to receive first class honours in jazz guitar from Trinity Laban Conservatoire; where she was the recipient of the John Hassall prize in music and a Gold Medal Award nominee.
Current live + recorded projects include; acid-jazz group Red Snapper, improvised duo with bassist Caius Williams, and alt-rock three piece COOL QUIET.
Her solo work focusses on both improvisation, and pushing the textural boundaries of her instrument. Sketches can be found here.
Her work as a composer for film includes 'a loop, of exchanges, until we vomit' with art film maker Luca Baioni, Strange Like It Sounds in collaboration with Switzerland-based Nick Walter, as well as Pascal Bergamin's 2024 feature film Portraits of Dangerous Women.
